Jan Brogan has long been associated with Cal women’s tennis, including her 29 years at the helm of the Golden Bear program. During her tenure, Brogan built the Cal program into a national contender. Her legacy includes a trip to the finals in 1982, and 19 top-10 finishes since 1982. She also produced four NCAA championship doubles teams, 61 All-Americans, 19 first-team All-Pac-10 selections and five conference player/team of the year honorees during her career. Brogan ended her Cal head coaching career with a 539-223 (.707) dual-match record, and had notched more than 500 career wins. Upon her retirement, Brogan was just the fourth Cal coach to reach the 500-win plateau and the winningest coach in Cal tennis history.
Brogan is a Bay Area native. A graduate of San Jose State University in physical education, she completed her teaching credential in 1978. In 1998 she completed a masters degree in sports psychology at John F. Kennedy University.
