Stop Getting Tangled In Your Underwear---A Perfect Toss
Do you toss the ball at #1, #2, or #3? If you want more power, and consistency on your serve, you must toss the ball in front of your body and slightly to the right, at Dot #1 or red dot (if you're right-handed), and in front and to your left (if you're left-handed). If you toss parallel to the baseline, or at Dot #2 (yellow), you can get the serve in, but not with very much power. If you toss at #3 (green dot) you must swing much slower to try to get it in. If you swing fast, your serve will almost always go long. So, "don't get tangled up in your underwear," worrying too much about your service motion, just put the ball toss in front of you and slightly to your right. If you're at home practicing, place the racquet diagonal from your front toe, and see if you can land 10 ball tosses in the racquet strings. That will help you master the toss to give you more power and consistency on your serve.
